Insurance Mediation
For those growers which had crop insurance, contact your insurance agent to get a damage assessment performed on your operation before applying for FHDAP funds. Here are some disaster claim phone numbers:
- Florida Farm Bureau 800-330-3327 or 866-275-7322 (www.ffbic.com)
- Citizens 866-411-2742
- Foremost 800-527-3907
- Cypress 888-352-9773
- Progressive 800-776-4737
If there is a dispute between you and the insurance adjuster, contact your area Florida Department of Financial Services office and request a mediation. Any consumer with a claim can participate in this program at no cost. For instance, mediation can help consumers work out a settlement if a contractor quote varies from an insurance company damage estimate, or help decide whether a flood policy or a wind policy covers the damage.
The state will have four mediation centers set up the first one is in Charlotte County followed by centers opening just south of Orlando, in Fort Pierce, and in Pensacola.
To schedule a mediation meeting call us at 800-22-STORM.
