Florida Rep Joins House Agriculture Committee

U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) announced that he has been appointed to serve on the House Committee on Agriculture. Rooney is the only member of the Florida delegation serving on either the House or Senate Agriculture Committees.

“Florida, and particularly the 16th district, is one of the largest agriculture producing areas in the country, and our farmers deserve a strong voice in Washington,” Rooney said. “I am honored to be the only member of the Florida delegation serving on the House Agriculture Committee because a safe and abundant food supply is essential to our country.”

Florida’s 16th district is one of the largest agriculture producing areas in the country. With dairy, sugar, citrus, beef, fruit and vegetable farmers, South Florida’s agriculture community is richly diverse and a great economic engine for the region.

He also serves as a vice-chair of the Congressional Dairy Caucus and sits on the Congressional Beef Caucus. In addition, Rooney serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.
